Help Shape the Future of Flood Resilience in the South Shore of Nova Scotia!
Dillon Consulting, in partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA), is officially launching engagement for the South Shore Nova Scotia Municipal Flood Line Mapping (MFLM) project. This project is part of the provincial MFLM program, which aims to create consistent flood line maps across the province. These maps are powerful tools that will help municipalities and First Nations to establish standards for flood-prone areas, guide strategic land-use planning decisions, and inform emergency services preparedness. Additionally, these maps can empower residents with a better understanding of their community's flood risk.
Your Local Knowledge is Key
Our approach combines technical analysis with your invaluable local knowledge. The data collected from field programs and modeling, paired with your feedback, will directly inform the development of coastal and riverine flood line maps for the South Shore of Nova Scotia.
Our analysis considers a wide range of factors, including:
- Rainfall;
- Snowmelt;
- Wildfires impacts;
- Tides and waves;
- Sea-level rise;
- Storm surges; and
- Current and future climate scenarios.
The final output will be an interactive tool that enables South Shore communities to visualize projected flooding scenarios up to the year 2100.
