As part of the Department of Municipal Affairs Municipal Flood Line Mapping (MFLM) program, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is leading the development of a flood line map for the Musquodoboit River Watershed, and has retained Dillon Consulting to collect data to inform this initiative. The purpose of this initiative is to encourage consistency in flood line mapping across the province so that municipalities can develop appropriate standards and regulations for flood hazard areas. This map will not only help municipalities guide development away from flood hazards, they will also inform emergency management efforts and empower residents with information that will help them make informed decisions.
