The Regional Town of Cap-Acadie is undertaking a review of our Municipal Plan and Zoning By-law!
The Regional Town of Cap-Acadie has been collecting feedback from residents to determine what types of policy should be incorporated into the Municipal Plan and Zoning By-law. We have collected feedback through our survey, interactive map, and in-person engagement events, and are now working on our What We Heard Report. Once this report has been drafted, it will be available for your review on this website.

About
The Regional Town of Cap-Acadie is growing!
The population of Cap-Acadie increased by 4.85% between 2016 and 2021, and is estimated to increase by an average of 363 new citizens per year until 2030. In order to address changing community needs as the Town grows, the Cap-Acadie is undergoing a review and update to its Municipal Plan and Zoning By-law.
What is a Municipal Plan and Zoning By-law?
A Municipal Plan is a document which provides a long-term vision for land use in a Town, and provides policies and tools to help guide this vision. A Zoning By-law is a document which aids in the implementation of the Municipal Plan by providing requirements for land use, and processes that the Town must follow to determine if proposed land uses adhere to the vision of the Municipal Plan. The Town's Municipal Plan and Zoning By-law update provides an opportunity to determine the vision for the community, and how this vision should be guided.
The Municipal Plan and Zoning By-law will directly impact how your community is shaped by determining what types of developments can go where, what natural resources should be protected, and where essential services (water supply, roads, etc.) are needed. They can be used to address issues like the need for affordable housing and access to services and amenities, and they may impact what you are permitted to do with your property. The Municipal Plan and Zoning Bylaw will impact the future of the Town as well as your day-to-day life, which is why we want to hear from you!
