Background
The Municipality of North Grenville (The Municipality) will soon be starting the process of reviewing and updating their Official Plan, and they want to hear from you! Share your thoughts, ideas and priorities on how you feel our community can continue to improve.
The current Official Plan was adopted in 2018 and is now out of date. We need a new Official Plan that reflects North Grenville today, while creating a new vision for tomorrow.
The new official Plan will focus on how population and economic growth should be managed up to 2051, to support the wellbeing of the community, environment and economy. This includes key priorities around planning for new housing, development, recreational services and infrastructure, economic and industry development and how to foster the Municipality's rural character.
The new Official Plan will also implement recent Provincial policy directions and other background studies that will help determine where and how North Grenville can grow.
What is an Official Plan?
An Official Plan is a policy document that establishes the vision for how North Grenville will grow and develop as a community over the next 25 years. This includes establishing goals and objectives and supporting policies that help shape the social, economic and environmental landscape of the Municipality.
The Official Plan update will look at:
- Creating a vision for how to create a vibrant and growing Municipality to 2051 and beyond
- Where new housing, jobs and industry will be located
- How to best plan for services the community needs like roads, sewers, schools and parks
- How to protect and enhance natural areas and green space
- Planning for jobs and economic vitality
- Environmental sustainability and how to plan for climate change impacts
- Establishing community improvement initiatives
- Conforming Municipal policies to Provincial and regional policies
What Key Policy Areas are There?
We've identified three key themes that we want feedback on from our residents.
- Living in North Grenville
- Working in North Grenville
- Playing in North Grenville
